Inice joining the Grecenry, db. Freire have discharged their duties with fidelity and accuracy. No exception was, so far as I am aware, taken to the performance of his duties while in the Audit Office except in the case of the Baunda's defalcations at the Post Office, when, as his salary was reduced, he was evidently considered by the Auditor to have been negligent.

dr Freire joined the service in the Audit Office and his duties by the Departments. When the transfer of the Audit to Somerset storage he was transferred to the Treasury on reduced salary in 1871. He had his salary raised 20%, as authorised, by the Secretary of State's Despatch No. 200, dated 20 August 1891. His services extend over a period of 13 years and 10 months (under the circumstances of dr Freire's retirement I think his pension might in any case be calculated as though he had completed 15 years of Service. This would bring his pension up to $410.40 as he desires, his case be decided as the Governor was, he will be allowed to count several more years for pension). He is thus entitled to a pension of $388.80 per annum, being 185/60th of his Emoluments of $1296. He is a subscriber to the Widows' and Orphans' Fund.
